Nike and British designer Martine Rose have a longstanding collaborative relationship based on contortions of legendary Nike sneakers. First distorting the dad-core essential, the Air Monarch, back in 2019, Rose turns her attention towards another 00’s classic – the Shox sneaker.
Embellishing the already esoteric silhouette, Rose dissolves the boundaries between football style, kitting the Shox MR4 Mule in vibrant gradients across both styles, calling to mind historic goalkeeper jerseys from the ‘90s. With a shape that mimics the look of heels, the Shox’s distinctive cushioning and pointed toebox cultivates a combination of familiar sporting aesthetics with a twist of modern visual codes.
