Eastpak and Aries’ Experimental Take On Utility

Eastpak and Sofia Prantera’s Aries come together this season, reworking utilitarian accessories with an experimental focus.

Eastpak and utility go together hand in hand. The label has been designing with an emphasis on function for decades now, ever since it was founded in 1952 — under the name Eastern Canvas Products — to develop equipment for military use. This season, the label partners with London-based Aries, creating a collection that celebrates those utilitarian origins. A variety of Eastpak’s signature pieces are used in the collection — ranging from the Pak’r backpack to the Bane waist bag — only the approach is far bolder than the label’s norm.

Bags are reworked using pink tie-dye camo — a nod to Sofia Prantera’s love of bold, rave-inspired streetwear — detailed with lanyards reading “Are Cults a Danger?” and carabiner clips. The collection's theme is immediately clear with the vest, too — it’s covered in the capsule's tie-dye camo, comes with an abundance of pockets and features nylon webbing to drive home the look.
