Taking it's name from their long-standing customisation department, the Barbour Dept. (B) collection for AW14 takes inspiration from one of its most iconic customers. Captain George Phillips of the submarine HMS Ursula commissioned a modification of a Barbour one piece motorcycling suit for his men in 1937 after seeing the effectiveness of Barbour's waxed cotton against the fierce conditions. What became known as the Ursula Suit was the only comfort for the men of that submarine when facing the freezing cold sea and is one of the best known bespoke designs the South Shields legendary outdoor outfitter has ever made.

In celebration of his ingenious customisation, the Radar Military Jacket is designed with the kind of functional detail that enables a jacket to be used as a tool to fit a purpose. Constructed with a full waxed cotton shell with tonal embroidered detailing a vintage finish, it is kitted out with a whole host of utilitarian pockets including a spring-clasp released bellow pockets, D-ring detail and a detachable high stance hood.
