In anticipation of Saturday's launch, Virgil Abloh x Converse has taken over END.'s flagship stores with an immersive window display and hyperoom installation.
The final silhouette from Abloh's reconstructed Nike icons, the Chuck Taylor was initially slated for launch with its 9 counterparts last year but was postponed pending further development. Now completing the set, the contemporary take on one of footwear's most iconic styles arrives dripping in Virgil's inimitable design DNA.
A game-changer for the all-American icon, the open-source nature of the upper is taken from the “GHOSTING” half of the original collection - an idea to reveal and unite the models’ 94-years of combined history via semi-revealing translucent materials. Transparent to let all the seams and construction shine through, in true Abloh style, “VULCANIZED” lettering on the midsole and “SHOELACES” insignia to the lacing demonstrate the cult designer codes. Finishing off the athletic high top, an orange zip-tie adds a pop of colour to complement the icy outsole.
The Converse x Virgil Abloh Chuck Taylor 1970s Hi is now available for registration on END. Launches.
For those wishing to take part in our separate in-store raffles, registration will open at END. Newcastle and END. Glasgow at 9am on Wednesday 9th May and remain open until 5pm on Friday 11th of May. Winners of the in-store raffles will be notified on Saturday 12th May and will be able to purchase and collect their sneakers between Sunday 13th May and Monday 14th May.
