6 cities. 18 finalists. 1 Air Max to represent each city. Who has your vote?
A call to arms which has galvanised the international sneaker community, back in March Nike tasked a slew of independent creatives to submit their vision of Air Max inspired by a key component or characteristic of their city. Three finalists each from Seoul, Tokyo, London, Paris, NYC, and Shanghai have had their personal riff on an iconic Air Max silhouette selected by an expert panel and Nike has now opened the public vote, with each city set to crown one winner who's sneaker will retail in the coming months.
Taking inspiration from each of these key cities unique cultural fingerprint, as seen by the people that live there, each Air Max iteration tells a personal story of identity, affinity, and hometown glory. An eclectic mix of air, models represented among the finalists include the Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95, Air Max 97, Air Max 98, Air Max 270, and VaporMax Plus.
Previous Air Max Day design votes lay claim to birthing some of the most revered Nike silhouettes of recent years, most notably last year's 'Vote it Forward' competition which gave us Sean Wotherspoon's rainbow-clad Air Max 1/97 earlier this year.
