Carrying ‘boro’ into the 21st century, independent denim makers FDMTL delve into their storied history to refine a traditional patchwork style. Meaning “ragged” or “tattered”, the boro style was created by generation of families whose textiles would acquire more and more patches. Covered in indigo “scraps”, this indigo dyed shirt is a beautiful rendition of a style favoured by nineteenth and early twentieth-century rural Japanese.
