Akari translates to ‘light’ in Japanese, and references both the weight and soft luminosity of this table lamp. First designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1951, it’s still crafted by hand in the town of Gifu, whose artisanal paper parasols and lanterns inspired it. Washi paper glued over bamboo ribs forms its foldable, orb-like shade, while thin tripod legs keep it propped on your desktop.
