’ISPA’ is Nike’s latest in-house offshoot and represents a group of the brand’s most innovative and exciting designers doing what they do best: sourcing the most cutting edge materials, combining them with Nike’s world-class technology and producing sneakers that are high-performance enough to work out in and good looking enough to wear every day. Take this pair, for example: crafted from fine-knit grey translucent thermoplastic uppers, they are finished with hiking-style off-centre laces and branded tape at either side. The React rubber sole is fashioned from deep, sapphire blue rubber with slightly paler blue accents, whilst the eyelets, seams and tongue pull are mouthwatering orange for a high-contrast top note that delectably rounds things off. ‘ISPA’ stands for ‘Improvise. Scavenge. Protect. Adapt’, a call to arms for anyone who wants to uphold Nike’s rich heritage whilst subverting the status quo – and this is only the beginning.
