ASICS GEL-KAYANO LEGACY: HERITAGE OF THE FUTURE
31 October 2023Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the GEL-KAYANO line, Japanese footwear experts ASICS unveil the GEL-KAYANO LEGACY.
Perfected as a blend of comfort and aesthetic innovation, the GEL-KAYANO line from ASICS has remained a steadfast pillar of the brand’s footwear output since it first debuted 30 years ago. Celebrating the franchise’s milestone anniversary, the Japanese brand have designed an all-new sneaker, the GEL-KAYANO LEGACY, plucking elements from past models from the line to create a forward-thinking sneaker that embodies the GEL-KAYANO vision. Following on from the brand's collaboration with Berlin-based GmbH, the silhouette returns in a duo of striking colourways.
Starting the design process with the GEL-KAYANO 14 silhouette, ASICS used the previous model as the base construction for the GEL-KAYANO LEGACY, modifying the sneaker’s uppers with elements adapted from the KAYANO’s various eras to create the ultimate homage to the KAYANO’s impact and heritage.
Presented in a duo of distinctive colourways that nod to the KAYANO’s history, albeit through different methods, the LEGACY honours the past of the franchise through a modern lens. One make-up sees the model rendered asymmetrically, drawing inspiration from several iconic GEL-KAYANO colourways, while the other style champions ASICS’ frequent use of silver throughout the shoe’s chronology, complete with 3M accents for a boost of technical charm.
