BRAND PROFILE: CANADA GOOSE

If you’re Inspired to explore sub-zero temperatures, immerse yourself in the rich history of Canada Goose with END. We've deep-dived into everything from the brand’s heritage, to fabrics and sizing.

Building a culture that values entrepreneurship, responsibility, passion, respect, and innovation, Canada Goose was born with a mission to free people from the cold and continuously proves its legacy season after season.

CANADA GOOSE: WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Canada Goose was founded back in 1957 by Sam Tick. Inspired by some of the coldest places on Earth, including Canada in the peak of winter, the label began developing ground-breaking techniques to become one of the industry's leading makers of luxury apparel. Under the name Metro Sportswear Limited, Sam built up his utilitarian enterprise in a warehouse in Toronto, Canada, and best believe, every adventure enthusiast braving sub-zero climates quickly came on board.

The invention of a volume-based down-filling machine and the introduction of Sam’s son-in-law, David Reiss, in 1972 allowed the label to explore new trends and improve its down-filled coats, jackets, parkas, and more.

As well as being dubbed the ‘unofficial’ jacket provider for film crews worldwide, it was the down-filling technology and jacket innovation that led to some of Canada Goose's most iconic and best-selling designs, such as the Snow Mantra Parka, Canada Goose Expedition Parka, and the Wyndham Parka.

MATERIALS AND SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

Sustainable innovation is key to Canada Goose, the label prides itself on using lower-impact materials such as organic, natural, biodegradable and plant-based fibres and bluesign® certified fabric that helps address end-of-life textile waste. “Designing for life, not just a season.”

In 2007, Canada Goose joined forces with Polar Bears International (PBI). A non-profit organisation that supports important research, education and outreach. With two-thirds of the world's polar bears calling Canada home, it was important they could give back, supporting the non-profit organisation with a portion of the PBI collection’s proceeds donated directly to the charity.

CANADA GOOSE GO FUR-FREE

Driven by Purpose-Based commitment, it was in 2019 that Canada Goose made the decision to end all the use of real fur in its products. A ground-breaking moment for the label, Canada Goose began phasing out its use of fur at the end of 2021.

GOOSE DOWN

In 2021 Canada Goose became certified as a brand under the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). Down is one of the best natural sources of lightweight insulation, and plays a huge part in all its product manufacturing. With this in mind, Canada Goose are committed to using responsibly sourced down and continue to accelerate its sustainable evolution.

HUMANATURE

Humanature is Canada Goose’s drive for meaningful change, a ‘Sustainable Impact Strategy’ that focuses on a long term commitment to fabric sustainability and environmental responsibility. Confident with its success and future plan, Canada Goose has committed to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.

WHAT IS THE CANADA GOOSE LOGO?

The Canada Goose logo always features on its products: everything from jackets, gilets, beanies and more. It was rebranded in the early noughties, resembling an arctic map of the North Pole, highlighted by a circle of red text “CANADA GOOSE, ARCTIC PROGRAM ''. Solid red maple leaves dominate the design, honouring the label's Canadian roots.
