Description

1873 was a big year for Levi's which saw the birth of the first blue jean - the Waist Overalls that started it all. May 20th, to be precise, was the day that it all began for the San Francisco brand, when Levi Strauss & Co. and Jacob Davis obtained a U.S. patent (No. 139,121) for "an Improvement in Fastening Pocket Openings". To put it simply, the rivets! Where the introduction of rivets in men’s work pants was seen for the very first time. Now Levi Vintage Clothing celebrates its 150th anniversary of the patent and it continues to do what it does best by preserving the past with this limited edition reproduction of the 1873 XX Waist Overalls, focus on the limited, with just 150 pairs up for grabs. Just like the original, they celebrate Levi's steep history, crafted from 9 oz. plain Selvedge Loomstate denim with all the tropes of the OG, including a centre-back cinch tab, a single back patch pocket and of course the legendary gold-toned exposed rivets, which complete this piece of history, reproduced, a real gem for collectors. Completing the jeans are buttons which line the waistband, while a jacron patch sits at the rear, printed with Levi’s original San Francisco Bay office address, 14 to 16 Battery Street, where the blueprint was laid for what was to come.
