The 99x series helped solidify New Balance’s status as a serious running brand, and the UK-made 991 – first released in 2001 – is a fan favourite. This time, though, it’s changed. The premium pigskin suede uppers remain untouched, besides the vibrant colourway, but the sole unit is borrowed from the 990V3 and brings the archival model firmly into the modern day with stabilising ENCAP® technology.
