Bringing another year of global street style reports to a close, END. hones in on the best expressions of sneaker style from around the world in 2019.
From the cobbled streets of London to the concrete expanses of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, throughout 2019 we have watched as the global style elite congregated at the world's leading fashion week events to absorb the latest collections and present their own expression of contemporary style; all established from the ground up with this year's sneaker style truly setting the bar. Following on from our 2019 street style retrospective, END. looks back through the year's street style reports to select the best-in-class sneaker moments of the year.
As Virgil Abloh brought his legendary 'The Ten' collaboration to an end, he continued his partnership with the Swoosh on a series of new silhouettes from the sportswear giant's catalogue; including cut-and-paste iterations of the Terra Kiger 5 and - most recently - the Dunk which we are sure to see on foot at the upcoming shows in January.
The dominant sneaker collaboration of the year, however, has undoubtedly been Nike x Sacai with myriad colourways of the LDWaffle and Blazers dropping throughout 2019. Despite some initial issues which caused delays to the early drops, with a fresh slew of colourways now slated for 2020, hype for Chitose Abe's exploration of Nike tooling and textiles remains high as we head into the new year.
