An ongoing tribute to adidas past and present, Gary Aspden's curated SPZL line returns with a pack of archival sneakers remixed with the latest textiles and developed using the best in contemporary manufacturing.

A labour of love, Aspden applies his unmatched archival knowledge to present seasonal reinterpretations of classic styles and silhouettes from adidas' rich sporting heritage, imbued with a modern sensibility that encapsulates the spirit of the original release remastered to suit the needs of today's adi-heads.

The pack starts with a '70s and '80s-era Freizeit sneaker, the Intack, which brings back the spirit of a bygone era. Presented with dark navy suede uppers, a durable rubber outsole, serrated leather three stripes to the side walls, and a contrast Trefoil tongue logo and heel patch, the SPZL Intack for AW17 more than delivers an authentic adidas look.

Reshaping the European classics, the SPZL Lacombe sneaker takes reference from the Newcombe tennis shoe, extending the collections influences from the French Riviera for a fresh and clean design. Constructed from soft leather uppers with serrated detail and perforated three-stripe branding for breathability, the minimal sneaker is finished with a contrasting heel panel and tongue - all sitting atop a tonal sole unit.

Aspden's exploration of the TRX combines two archival silhouettes for an updated SPZL rendition. Made from premium suede uppers and nylon underlays, the classic serrated leather three stripes insignia is finished with ‘TRX Spezial’ call-out.

Bringing the pack to an impactful crescendo, the Super Tobacco maintains the signature minimal lines and stitched three stripes of the original to its nubuck uppers, iterated in a hyper-contemporary wood colourway. An embossed Trefoil logo to the tongue, brass eyelets and a tonal rubber sole unit underfoot complete this new interpretation of a heritage style.
