SneakersNIKE X JACQUEMUS
22 September 2022With Nike and Jacquemus’ debut collaboration, the fashion house’s founder takes a refined approach to sportswear.
The founder of Jacquemus, Simon Porte Jacquemus, has a longstanding love of Nike, with his favourite sneaker from the Swoosh being an icon of the ACG line: the Air Humara. With the fashion house’s debut collaboration with Nike, it’s that much-loved sneaker that’s brought under the spotlight. The two iterations are a far cry from the usual bold, ACG-synonymous colourways. Instead, they’re given a much more refined and minimal approach, with a mixture of suede and leather covering their uppers and one coming in a subtle beige and white colourway, the other brown.
Sitting alongside the footwear in the collection is apparel, which represents a continuation of classic sportswear reinvented through a minimal lens. An emphasis is placed on detailing and neutral colours, culminating in a seamless blend of both labels’ design codes. Dresses are inspired heavily by tennis, only they feature cut-out detailing and gold-tone swooshes to offer a more elevated look. Skirts continue with the tennis theme, which feature subtle pleats and integrated shorts.
