NIKE AIR TRAINER 1 SP
8 April 2022The Nike Air Trainer 1 SP is heavily inspired by the OG cross-training shoe that debuted in ’87, only the approach is much more rugged and futuristic.
In 1987, Tinker Hatfield visited his local gym and made in observation: that people were wearing separate sneakers while exercising, with one used for weightlifting and another for running. This led to a desire to create a solution: the world’s first cross-training sneaker that combined the best of both worlds, th Air Trainer 1.
Buckle Detailing
This season, Nike is giving the legendary sneaker a makeover with the SP version, paying homage to its heritage while also propelling it into the future.
Air Cushioning
Some of the OG’s features remain intact, like the chunky shape, mid-height collar and Air-cushioned sole unit. The overall appearance is much bolder and rugged, though, thanks to a reworked forefoot strap — replacing leather for plastic and canvas — mixed-material panelling and patterned detailing throughout.
