CANADA GOOSE & NBA COLLECTION WITH UNION

As part of their multi-year partnership, Canada Goose and the NBA tap into LA-based Union for a bespoke collection.

Canada Goose taps into fellow Canadian streetwear designer and founder of UNION LA, Chris Gibbs, as part of a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association. The collection represents a fusion of both partners’ distinct design codes, with the utilitarian heritage of Canada Goose casted through UNION LA’s West Coast lens.

The collection is comprised of five pieces, with each one channelling the Americana and streetwear codes integral to UNION LA. On the collection, Gibbs said “this collection truly reflects the very definition of UNION, the action or fact of joining or being joined together. By fusing the luxury performance and function Canada Goose is known for with the design and styling of UNION LA, we’ve created a limited-edition capsule collection with five distinct pieces, created with the West Coast lifestyle in mind”.

The collection offers a contemporary take on beloved classic silhouettes and nostalgic heritage patterns, like the Toussaint Coat which is inspired by French military parkas with its washed treatment, or the the Breda Liner jacket with distinct, horizontal onion quilting. The reversible Bullard Bomber is inspired by the iconic MA-1 jackets with a varsity-inspired rework, with technical satin on the body and varsity-style ribbing at the back, while the Legion Vest is constructed using tartan fleece and features an exaggerated overlapping pocket. The palette used throughout the collection nods to the home of Union LA, with burnt oranges, blues and earth tones evoking images of sun-soaked beaches.
