ASICS x Awake NY GEL-Kayano 21

ASICS and Angelo Baque’s Awake NY first partnered in 2019, kickstarting their relationship with a rework of the Gel-Kayano 5 360. Since then, the two have partnered several times, with a key feature running throughout each collaboration: technical runners.

This season, the two are back together again, reworking another model from the Gel-Kayano range: the Gel-Kayano 21. The shoe very much echoes the elevated and retro-inspired aesthetic favoured by Angelo Baque; the uppers are constructed using off-white suede and grey mesh, then joined to a 360-degree GEL-cushioned sole unit. To further the elevated look, a co-branded patch is worked into the tongues, as well as the New York-based label’s name debossed into the toe box.
