The Nike Air Rift is perceived as one of the brand's most revolutionary styles. This original Nike Air Rift was released in '96, overseen by Tinker Hatfield, inspired by barefoot Kenyan running athletes and named after Kenya's Rift Valley. The shoe's main feature is the unique split toe design and rubber toe guard. Finished with a Velcro fastening on the our way stretch fit neoprene upper, it is sat upon a cushioned Phylon midsole for impact protection whilst being extra lightweight. The shoe wasn't heavily advertised at its release but due to the unusual features, the Rift became something of a Nike classic.
