Air Jordan 1 Low

While the Chicago Bulls were negotiating Michael Jordan’s contract in the ‘80s, sportswear giant Nike was drafting its own deal to get the basketball player on its court. Beating the likes of adidas and Converse with a shoe tailored to his needs, the Air Jordan and its low-top counterpart quickly became an indisputable icon. 
Jordan first sported the style on-court in a preseason game against the New York Knicks, breaking the league’s uniform rules with its debut red and black color palette. In fact, the player would be fined $5,000 every time he broke regulation - but Nike’s commitment remained steadfast, paying the tab each time. Basically, the duo became the holy grail of sneaker partnerships. 

And it’s a status that Nike, Michael Jordan and the Air Jordan 1 Low still enjoys to this day. Peter Moore’s take on the traditional high-top can usually be found featuring an embroidered Jumpman motif, Wings logo and signature Swoosh across the uppers. The “UNC”, “Mocha” and “Chicago” iterations remain some of the most notable iterations of the low-top Air Jordan 1.
