Y-3 Runner 4D - Register Now on END. Launches

The sport-style pioneer Y-3, a collaboration between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto, unveils its first application of the breakthrough Digital Light Synthesis technology for 2018. The Y-3 RUNNER 4D melds adidas' innovation with Y-3’s unmistakable fashion aesthetic and progressive Japanese craftsmanship. The shoe also marks the first-ever deployment of this technology in a context out with performance; a symbol of the enduring symbiosis between technical specification and aesthetic appeal.

Built on a high-performance midsole crafted with light and oxygen, the Y-3 Runner 4D uses Digital Light Synthesis, a breakthrough process that uses digital light projection, oxygen-permeable optics, and programmable liquid resins to generate high performance, durable polymeric products.

Influenced by years of athletic data, the shoe’s iconic lattice structure and single-component design are precisely tuned for controlled energy return, enabling long-lasting cushioning and stability. Its unique open structure provides a cooler feeling underfoot.

The Y-3 RUNNER 4D features primeknit uppers realized purely in black and white, ultra-resistant eye stays, and three “stripes” of cording that lock feet in place for maximum support.

A campaign photographed by London-based duo Sofie & Maarten creates intrigue and suspense around the shoe’s launch through the use of inverted colourways. The resulting images place a hero focus on the innovative new trainer.
