A shakeup for the post-soviet streetwear label
In a message shared to his Instagram account, the godfather of post-soviet streetwear Gosha Rubchinskiy has announced a significant switch up in the pipeline for the Russian brand.
The message reads: "We will stop Gosha Rubchinskiy brand as you've known it. We will have no more seasonal collections. Instead, something new is coming."
Not afraid to challenge the status quo, this decision to move away from a traditional season-led delivery model comes as the designer's 'Russian tour' chapter reaches its conclusion. Opting to move away from Paris, the designer spent three seasons flying an exclusive guest list of industry buyers and press to different locations in Russia to present his latest collections. These off-the-beaten-fashion-track trips provided the attending industry insiders - and the label's wider audience via digital media - with the opportunity to learn more about Gosha's roots and his vision of contemporary youth culture in modern-day Russian.
Sending shockwaves across the global streetwear community, the announcement has led to much speculation that the designer is slowing up on the output of his eponymous label in order to focus more on his work with Soviet skating brand PACCBET.
Keep your eyes open for more information about the future of Gosha Rubchinskiy's namesake label coming soon.
