Off-White and Air Jordan extend their ongoing partnership this season, paying tribute to Michael Jordan’s iconic legacy with two archive-inspired AJ2s, "White, Varsity Red & Black" and "Black, Royal & Cement Grey".
It’s no secret that Virgil Abloh has a deep appreciation for Air Jordan. You only need to look at his long list of grail-worthy collaborations with the line to confirm that. But, in reality, it goes way deeper — the designer has been a lifelong fan of the Bulls, and often credits Michael Jordan as one of his greatest inspirations.
The latest from Off-White and Air Jordan, two reworks of the AJ2, celebrates both Virgil’s love of MJ and the player’s iconic legacy in the sport. The shoes, which comes in both white and back, are inspired by pairs worn by Jordan on the courts — ones which he would often sign and give to fans after games.
They’re designed to mimic those exact game-worn sneakers, with a cracked-effect midsole — inspired by a pair found crumbling in the Jordan archives — and MJ’s signature printed onto the lateral sides. Virgil’s usual details are in there, too, like the printed font at the sidewalls and the zip tie worked into the laces.
