SneakersTHE REFINEMENT OF THE AIR JORDAN 2 “CHICAGO” WITH FAIZ & KWOLLEM
23 December 2022To celebrate the release of the Air Jordan 2 “Chicago” OG, we visited Omni Gallery, London, with Creative Concepts Director and Producer, Fáiz, and UK Rap and RnB producer, KwolleM.
Thirty-five years ago, Air Jordan debuted the second sneaker in an iconic lineage, the AJ2. It was an important leap in the history of Jumpman, not only due to its premium, Italian-made construction, but also as the first step in establishing the Air Jordan design codes, bereft of Swoosh branding. It also represents an important footnote in Michael Jordan’s illustrious career, with MJ having scored 37 points on average per game that season and also winning his first Slam Dunk contest wearing the shoe.
As the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 2 comes to a close, the sneaker is now returning in its OG form and colour: the coveted, Bulls-derived “Chicago”. Channelling the refinement of the Air Jordan 2 “Chicago”, we spent the day at one of London’s emerging contemporary art galleries, Omni Gallery, with Fáiz and KwolleM.
Fáiz is Creative Concepts Director and Producer at HEAT, as well as the curator of “POLAROIDS", the first book by Places+Faces. KwolleM, meanwhile, is an artist/producer who creates cutting-edge UK Rap and RnB beats for some of the UK’s most revered names, including Skepta and Joe James.
