With Rick Owens SWAMPGOD by END., the two designers come together to create an eco-minded collection, one that focuses on their shared love of envelope-pushing design with an emphasis on responsibility and waste prevention.
Rick Owens is a designer dedicated to the avant-garde, with an uncompromising sensibility rooted in the gothic, the dramatic and the experimental. SWAMPGOD, real name Arturo Boem, is a designer who has become immersed in the world of Rick Owens, having blossomed into his protégé following an encounter between the two on Instagram. SWAMPGOD alters, mutates and deconstructs Rick Owens’ signature garments, creating striking pieces that honour the Californian designer’s nonconformist sensibility.
For the collection, Rick Owens taps into SWAMPGOD to alter past deadstock in the same scotch tape spirit he started his collections 20 years ago. Old stock is ripped up and reconfigured into something new and bold, with SWAMPGOD further deconstructing Rick Owens’ hyper-experimental creations.
Pieces serve as a canvas for material experimentation, with contrasting textiles spliced together to create distinctive physical collages. Classic styles are flipped on their head and transformed into something that’s tied to the familiar, all while being pushed in an entirely new direction to channel Rick Owens’ rebellious sensibility.
The Rick Owens SWAMPGOD by END. collection will launch via END. Launches on the 4th June.
