Luxury, hype, and limited edition releases
The indisputable epicentre of global fashion, New York sets the style stakes high at the beginning of each show season as associated fashion buyers, press, and influencers arrive in Manhattan to preview the latest collections from NYC's crop of established and fledgeling designers.
With a clear proclivity for the current 'dad-sneaker' trend which broke through in 2017 as a result of Raf Simmons' Ozweego with adidas and Demna's infamous Triple S at Balenciaga, an inner-circle of New York sneakerheads took to the streets with their style established from the ground up. Ozweegos and Triple S were well represented in myriad colourways, pounding the pavements alongside silhouettes from Virgil Abloh's "The Ten" collaboration with Nike. The more refined and aerodynamic Speed Runner silhouette from Balenciaga also made an appearance outside the presentations.
Nike took the crown this season, with a slew of limited edition and in-line silhouettes hitting the streets, demonstrative of the US sneaker monolith's stateside popularity.
