ASICS x Vivienne Westwood - Register Now on END. Launches

Following up on their collaborative Gel Mai-Knit and Gel Kayano 5 OG, ASICS and Vivienne Westwood prepare a trio of fresh sneaker styles for AW19. Inspired by Renaissance painting, the Japanese sportswear brand and the classic British designer share their renditions of the GEL DS Trainer OG, the GEL Saga and the Hyper GEL Lyte.

Subverting signature streetwear style, the iconic punk-fashion legend looks to the rich history of Renaissance painting for inspiration. Emerging in tandem with the cultural, political, artistic and economic Renaissance of the 14th to the 17th Century, this expressive style of classical art sought to reflect the shifting contemporary landscape. Here, Westwood embellishes her sneakers with a boost of the instantly recognisable artistic style to great effect.

Featuring the painting "Daphnis & Chloe" by the 18th Century French artist Francois Boucher across all three silhouettes, Vivienne Westwood references her seminal Autumn/Winter 1990 collection, "Portrait" - her first work to feature the classic piece of Renaissance art.
