END. X NEEDLES "RATTAN"

Continuing to source inspiration from traditional manufacturing techniques, END. and Needles’ latest union looks to rattan furniture as a key influence with their “Rattan” collection.

Following their “Indigo Wash” collaboration in early 2024, END. and Needles team up once again with a six-piece capsule across menswear and womenswear, utilising the time-honoured rattan weave as a key detail across the product offering. Originating as far back as ancient Egypt, rattan has been used historically for basket-weaving and furniture-making, creating a resilient and distinctive aesthetic that retains the natural qualities of the plant. A fast-growing relative of the palm family, the rattan species is indigenous to tropical regions, including Australia, Asia, and Africa. Celebrating the long-standing use of rattan, END. looks to transform staple pieces from Needles’ wardrobe with a recognisable rattan twist.

Centring around Needles’ signature Cabana short-sleeved shirt, the collaboration mimics the style of classic rattan furniture, popularised in the modern day throughout the 20th century, transforming each garment with a rattan-inspired weave featuring the Tokyo-based brand’s iconic Papillon logo. Offering a breezy style perfect for summer days, the Cabana shirt is constructed entirely with the bespoke rattan weave. Needles’ iconic Track Jacket, Track Pant and String Fatigue Skirt are cast in an earthy brown hue, with the usual side taping replaced with the rattan weave fabric in a contrasting natural tone. A military-inspired beret is embellished with co-branded details and a leather head band, while Needles’ Mohair Cardigan is brought into focus, beautifully rendered in the collection’s subtle colour palette, complete with a flurry of fluttering Papillon butterflies.
