Lo-Fi, the Perth-based label and retailer founded by Garth Mariano and Matt Evans, takes a bold and playful approach to styling.
Perth-based Lo-Fi is a label that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Since it was founded in 2014 by skateboarders Garth Mariano and Matt Evans — who also co-founded Butter Goods — the approach has been centred around having fun, creating streetwear in a way that’s laidback and deviates from convention.
The name is the biggest giveaway for what influences the brand — lo-fi music, video and print are all drawn from heavily, reworked in a way that leans in on the label’s vibrant and tropical-inspired aesthetic. Graphics are often playful and retro looking, with relaxed-fitting staples like tees and hoodies used as the canvas.
Lo-Fi’s AW21 collection, titled “Pillar of Light”, embodies that approach perfectly. Tees and hoodies, for example, are covered in colourful and psychedelic prints, ranging anywhere from mushrooms to cartoon characters. Dickies’ 874 workpants are featured in the collection, too, only they’re cast through the label’s off-beat lens with digital suns printed down each leg.
Lo-Fi's AW21 collection launches at END. on the 30th October.
