END. X THE NORTH FACE REMADE

Partnering for a second REMADE capsule, END. and The North Face transform reclaimed products to give them a new life in honour of the Himalayan Down Parka’s 30th anniversary.

Following on from their debut collection last year, END. and The North Face REMADEpresent their sophomore collection. Renowned for their dedication to durability in design, The North Face and the British retailer have linked up to unveil a selection of one-of-a-kind garments that have been re-constructed by hand from reclaimed products in an effort to keep gear in use longer by giving it a new life, specifically focussing on the Himalayan Down Parka Jacket to commemorate its 30th anniversary.

Built from a carefully selected offering of unrepairable product, each piece of the seven-piece capsule exhibits the two brands’ distinctive creative vision. Constructed from The North Face’s trademark black down-filled jackets in Glasgow, each garment offers an innovative twist on the brand’s classic style. Distinguished in the outdoor and lifestyle sphere, the END. x The North Face REMADE collection sees the Himalayan Down Parka used as a blank canvas for a more formal take on the outdoor brand’s mountaineering DNA.

The END. x The North Face REMADE collection is available online via END. Launches on 11th October 2024.

Centring around three apparel pieces and four accessories, the monochromatic range combines iconic The North Face style with an experimental outlook to create a limited edition run of one-of-a-kind designs. The REMADE Himalayan Hoodie turns the outerwear essential into a popover down hooded jacket, while the Himalayan Cargo Pant sees trousers built from shell jacket fabric and detailed with the Himalayan Down Parka’s cargo pockets to create a dynamic and voluminous look. The REMADE Himalayan 2-in-1 Skirt proposes a versatile and adaptable garment that can be worn together or as separate pieces. Featuring a detachable mini-skirt constructed from the bottom half of a recycled shell jacket and a larger down skirt made from deconstructed sleeves and back panels from the Himalayan Parka, the 2-in-1 Skirt supplies dramatic flair and a layered experimental attitude.

The REMADE accessories further impress the key ideas behind the collaboration, with a number of items transporting The North Face’s visual identity into new and uncharted territory. The REMADE Tech Tie combines traditional formal menswear with The North Face’s technical expertise, while the REMADE Down & Fleece Beanie hat converts a core winter accessory into a unique statement piece. The REMADE Himalayan Crossbody bag is made from a combination of two jackets, with the Himalayan Parka used to create the bag’s exterior and an interior pouch with a drawstring closure assembled from a shell jacket for a striking yet practical handbag style. The pièce de résistance of the accessories offering comes in the form of a striking shawl inspired by the dramatic clothing worn on red carpet and gala events. Working with the existing baffles of the Himalayan Parka, snaps have been added to allow the REMADE Down Shawl to be securely closed, while printed branding subtly finishes off the piece with trademark The North Face style. The only piece to be made in higher quantities, the 1 of 21 edition REMADE Down Shawl is available in-store as well as through END. Launches.

“We actually disassembled three damaged Himalayan Parkas, then reassembled them based around a loose pattern to create this one popover hoodie that looks like nothing in the Himalayan range.”
“The 2-in-1 Skirt can be worn as two separate pieces or one piece. The first is the mini skirt, which is the over skirt for the more dramatic piece. This was made from the bottom half of a shell jacket, so we could keep the fastening for the zip of the skirt.”
“We took the existing waistband of another pair of trousers and then looked to add volume and shape by adding additional panels throughout the legs. On top of that, we also layered in the cargo pockets from the Himalayan Jacket to give it a more iconic look.”
“The idea of adding a shawl was inspired by a red carpet event or a gala. We wanted to add something that could be put on the upper body of either a male or a female to keep them warm.”
“The Crossbody Bag is constructed from two different types of jacket; the Himalayan Jacket and a shell jacket inside, which we used to create a pouch. We used sleeves from the Himalayan jackets for the straps as well as straps from an unrepairable backpack to create the crossbody look over the shoulder.”
“The Tech Tie is made of outerwear pieces, but keeping the sharp edges and keeping it really clean was quite tough and not what that fabric is designed to do.”
“The down beanie uses a much smaller baffle size than you find in any The North Face jacket, so having to recreate smaller baffles throughout the process was really difficult.”

The END. x The North Face REMADE collection is available online via END. Launches on 11th October 2024. All proceeds raised from the collection will be donated to Protect Our Winters UK, an outdoor climate action charity helping people become effective climate advocates to achieve systemic solutions to climate change.
