19 October 2023Teaming up on the EX89 model, ASICS and Needles present a duo of Butterfly detailed basketball sneakers.
Blending the heritage influences of the Japanese sportswear brand’s GEL-EXTREME basketball shoe from way back in 1989, ASICS offer up a revitalised iteration in collaboration with Needles.
Originally created by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 1980s as his inaugural design project for ASICS, the EX89 sees the designer’s sneaker modernised with modern cushioning properties. Detailed with distinctive colour blocking to match the era’s instantly recognisable NBA team uniforms, each colourway is complete with Needles’ iconic Butterfly logo embroidered to the heel.
