Earl Sweatshirt’s latest track, “2010”, sees the rapper continue to move in a lighter, more hopeful direction. The track combines the artist’s complicated lyrics with upbeat instrumentals, with longstanding collaborator Black Noi$e tapped into for production.
HUERCO S – “PLONK IV”
With his latest track, “Plonk IV”, Huerco S moves further away from ambient music and closer towards the dancefloor. The track is inspired the Kansas-based artist’s love of cars, with intricate polyrhythms that give an almost-mechanical sound.
KAYTRANADA – “INTIMIDATED”
KAYTRANADA continues his soulful and upbeat approach to production with “Intimidated”. The three track EP moves between dancefloor-leaning tracks and hip hop, combining the Haitian-Canadian artist’s beats with vocals from H.E.R., Thundercat and Mach-Hommy.
JOYA MOOI – “MOST FRAIL”
Joya Mooi pays homage to her political activist father on her latest single, “Most Frail”. The track is a combination of the artist’s serene vocals — which reflect on the lost stories of those who fought against injustice — with hazy and mellow instrumentals.
