INSIDE THE PREMIERE OF 'AN ANATOLIAN ODYSSEY' @ MANGAL II
3 December 2024Stopping by at Dalston’s Mangal II for a debut screening of ‘An Anatolian Odyssey’, END. and PUMA celebrated the upcoming launch of their collaborative Suede sneaker with the cult ocakbaşi restaurant.
Commemorating the upcoming launch of END.’s latest collaboration with German footwear specialists PUMA and Dalston’s premier ocakbaşi restaurant, Mangal II, we hosted an invite-only event to offer a first look at our documentary short film - Mangal II: An Anatolian Odyssey with Ferhat & Sertaç Dirik.
With Mangal II playing host from their restaurant on Stoke Newington Road, the evening saw attendees descend on the cult Anatolian eatery to try some of their charcoal grilled dishes, but not before they were suitably tantalised with a debut screening of the film. Documenting Ferhat and Sertaç’s trip to Central Anatolia as they sampled a variety of Turkish delights from Sariz, Kayseri and Cappadocia, the film examined their connection to this part of Türkiye and their passion for the food and culture of the region. Celebrating the variety and breadth of food on offer, the film perfectly captured the beauty of the cuisine and of the country.
Following the film screening, mixed grill platters were served up alongside bountiful plates of ezme salad and sourdough pide piled high. Supplemented with grilled chickpea hummus, courgette fritters and aubergine ezme alongside cheese and leek borek, the meal was rounded off with pecan baklava for a sweet finish. Low intervention wines were served to further fuel the celebratory atmosphere, before attendees were gifted the END. x PUMA x Mangal II Suede sneakers alongside a bespoke zine further documenting their odyssey into the heart of Anatolian cooking.
