CollaborationsEND. X SUBU "SURPLUS QUILTING"
26 October 2022END. partners with Japanese label SUBU with "Surplus Quilting": a three-piece capsule inspired by vintage military liners.
END. partners with Japanese footwear label SUBU for the first time, creating a three-piece capsule titled “Surplus Quilting”. The collection is heavily inspired by vintage garb and its importance to both Japanese styling and fashion design, with a particular focus on military liners and their distinctive onion quilting.
SUBU’s signature Winter Slipper is the footwear of choice for the collaboration, chosen for its utilitarian construction — perfected for both indoor and outdoor use — which mirrors the capsule’s rugged inspiration. Each iteration is reworked with reference to the collaborative theme, with their warming, down-filled uppers constructed using onion-quilted nylon to nod to the distinctive visual codes of military liners.
The colour palette used in the collection is inspired by the hues prevalent throughout classic military fabrics, with the slippers arriving in hues of brown, khaki and orange. Elsewhere, the approach taken is detail heavy, with embroidered eyelets, tie laces— a nod to the closures often found on liners — and co-branded insoles. Each pair comes with a bespoke tie bag so you can take them with you on your travels, which matches the same onion quilting found on the slipper’s uppers.
The END. x SUBU “Surplus Quilting” collection will be available on the 29th October via END. Launches.
