19 August 2022adidas revives the sought-after Mexicana from 1972, with a construction that mirrors the OG release.
In 1972, adidas unveiled the Mexicana: a clean-cut, terrace-focused shoe which was modelled after the famous Gazelle. Now, much to the delight of enthusiasts, the Mexicana is finally receiving a re-release in its OG form, commemorating 50 years since its debut.
It’s just as it was when it was first unveiled in ’72, with a low-cut, Gazelle-derived shape, yellow suede uppers and black accents. The finer details are of note, too, with gold foil model designation, serrated three stripes and that classic, contrasting white sole unit wrapping up the true-to-OG aesthetic.
