For SS22, Snow Peak partners with mandarin farmer and skateboarder, Yuichiro Wakamatsu, showcasing the label’s ability to thrive in a diverse array of environments.
In 1958, Snow Peak was founded by Yukio Yamai in the Niigata prefecture of Japan — an area known for its rich landscape consisting of mountains and rivers. Yamai, himself a keen mountaineer, was dissatisfied with the outdoor products then available, so decided to utilise the highly skilled metal workers in his hometown, Tsubame Sanjo, to develop superior products capable of thriving in Niigata’s vast landscape.
Throughout the decades that followed, Snow Peak would evolve into representing an entire lifestyle — evidenced through the diverse array of products it produces, catering for both city and outdoor use, and the Snow Peak Way camping events it holds over 30 times a year.
For SS22, Snow Peak channels that crossover inherent in the brand, creating a collection that showcases the label’s ability to thrive in an array of environments. The collection, titled "Living Without Boundaries", includes a bevy of technical garments, like packable rainwear, quick-drying pieces constructed from recycled polyester and breathable jackets designed to shield from insects. The apparel is showcased worn by mandarin farmer and skateboarder, Yuichiro Wakamatsu, worn both in the outdoor environments of his farm located in his home city, Uwajima, and worn skating the ramp he constructed for his local community.
