2 September 2022Nike and Sacai honour 50 years of the Swoosh with an experimental rework of the legendary Cortez.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Nike, the Swoosh is partnering with Chitose Abe’s Sacai to head back to where it all began: the ever-iconic Cortez. As to be expected with the Japanese label, the approach is hyper-experimental, nodding to the past while also propelling the sneaker well into the future.
It's still immediately recognisable as the legendary sneaker, only there are some distinctive changes typical of Chitose Abe. The approach taken reflects the hybrid design sensibility at the core of Sacai, with the sneaker’s collars, Swooshes and tongues all doubled up. The sole unit retains that classic wedge shape, only it juts out at the heel and features an exposed Air unit.
