NIKE X CONCEPTS AIR MAX 1

In celebration of the much-loved Air Max 1’s 35th anniversary, Nike and Boston-based Concepts join forces to rework the sneaker as part of their “Message to the Universe” capsule.

Mismatched Uppers

The sneaker is heavily inspired by music festivals of the ‘60s and ‘70s, reflected in the psychedelic approach taken to its materials; the uppers are mismatched using a bevy of materials and patterns, with everything from bright orange, bandana-like panels to tie-dye denim used.

Air Max Cushioning

It even continues onto the sneaker’s sidewall Swooshes, which are asymmetrical — striped on the lateral side, floral on the medial — to really drive home the eccentric aesthetic.
