14 December 2023New Balance and Joe Freshgoods continue their partnership with a rework of the much-loved 990 v4.
New Balance and Joe Freshgoods’ partnerships are rooted in unique takes on sneakers from the footwear labels vast line up, cutting through the noise with an innovative approach to colourways and material executions.
This time around, Joe Freshgoods adopts a much more understated approach, eschewing the usual vibrant hues for shades of black and white across New Balance’s 990 v4. The muted palettes of each sneaker are said to take inspiration from Hype William’s 1998 crime thriller Belly, offering a subtle nod to the film’s noir aesthetic. Other bespoke details include Joe Freshgoods branding worked into the heels and insoles, as well as “1998” printed at each heel to reference the year Belly was produced.
