London-based Studio Nicholson is centred around a refined approach to design, prioritising premium materials and a minimal aesthetic.
Studio Nicholson was founded in 2010 by Nick Wakeman: a designer who was then armed with two decades of industry experience and a fervent appreciation for premium materials. This passion was channelled into everything the label produced — something which remains unwavering today — with a focus on working strictly with experienced manufacturers and selecting the best materials available.
The pieces Studio Nicholson produces are centred around the idea of being modular — refined garments that help to give structure and direction to the contemporary wardrobe. To help ensure that, the label likes to focus on the everyday, elevating classic and functional pieces like knitwear, shirts and athleisure through use of minimal details and luxurious materials. The label draws heavily from Japanese architecture and interiors in the designing of garments, something which is reflected in the clean lines and contemporary aesthetic of each piece that’s created.
For AW21, the London-based label showcases that approach to design, creating garments that are understated and premium. Pieces remain classic, like overshirts and cardigans, only they’re reworked with a heavy emphasis on contemporary fits, refined details and high-quality materials.
