First established in 2014, Air Max Day has quickly become an all-important day on the sneakerhead calendar. When 26th March comes around, any sneaker fan worth their salt will be lacing up a pair of Air Max kicks to commemorate the creation of Nike’s infamous Air Max technology and its multitude of iconic silhouettes.

Marking the 35th anniversary of Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 sneaker, this year’s festivities are complemented with an exclusive AM1 style effervescent with shimmering aesthetics, modern twists and classic details – a unique take on the 1987 classic.

Paying homage to the French capital, Paris, this women’s iteration of the legendary sneaker silhouette finds influence from the romantic nature of the city. Dubbed “La Ville-Lumière” – or “The City of Lights” – iridescent panels detail the uppers to subtly introduce a kaleidoscope of colour to the Summit White mesh and Smoke grey suede panels, offering the perfect embodiment of effortless cool.

Complete with a collection of detachable silver-toned charms themed after Air Max Day, Nike emblazon the model’s tongues with 3.26 woven branding, while underfoot print offers a further commemoration of the Beaverton brand’s celebration made visible through a translucent outsole – the perfect fanfare to a fan favourite and it’s everlasting legacy.
