Nike and Matthew Williams reunite this season, creating a technical capsule designed to elevate yoga.
Matthew Williams is a designer with an unwavering commitment to the technical. From his work carried out under 1017 ALYX 9SM — like that iconic, zeitgeist-capturing rollercoaster buckle — or his more recent Creative Directorship at Givenchy, everything Williams does is underpinned by a pursuit of innovation.
It’s something that extends beyond Matthew Williams' solo projects, with the creative’s ongoing partnership with Nike serving as testament to that. The latest from the two brings Williams’ distinctive design approach to Yoga, with a bevy of garments and accessories designed to help elevate those mind-body exercises.
Tights are made using breathable and stretchy nylon and detailed with detachable belts at the waist — secured using an industrial-style buckle, as you’d expect — with sweat-wicking, Swoosh-branded towels suspended from them. Tees, meanwhile, are constructed using an engineered, part-recycled fabric that’s detailed with mesh panels, allowing heat to escape and keep you cool during intense sessions. The capsule extends beyond pieces to be worn during your workouts — there’s outerwear for protection to and from your classes and a blanket that takes on Williams’ sleek and technical aesthetic.
