adidas SPZL tease new collection with campaign featuring Goldie.

The concept for adidas SPZL was born from Gary Aspden's idea of putting on a sneaker exhibition that would excite the most ardent adidas fans, and pay an homage to the German footwear institution's contribution to global sneaker culture on an unmet scale.

Off the back of this hugely successful exhibition, adidas’ SPEZIAL line was established as an ongoing celebration of the brand’s legacy, bringing back some of the most iconic and innovative pieces from the depths of their archives. Returning for AW17, SPZL, under careful curation from Gary Apsden, continue their reimagination of classic from adidas' inimitable back catalogue.

Living up to the expectations of the avid adidas fans who have become the core customer for Gary Aspden's line, a range of classic silhouettes are given the SPEZIAL treatment this season.

The Super Tobacco model is reimagined with a T-toe overlay and takes design cues from the Bermuda silhouette. Reaching deep into the archives, the Intack and Spiritus models are given a contemporary treatment with premium materials and bright colorways.

In terms of apparel, SPEZIAL reinvent classic cuts, with the archive bomber reworked into the Abenstein Jacket — complete with reversible construction and high-spec PrimaLoft insulation. Other pieces include a reimagined workwear jacket, a lightweight down vest, a brand new tracksuit and a capsule of graphic T-shirts inspired by archive adidas catalog artwork.

To launch the collection, adidas SPEZIAL has tapped British drum and bass icon Goldie for a lookbook shot by SHOWstudio’s Nick Knight - a collaboration between two icons, testament to the cultural gravitas of adidas SPZL
