CultureSTONE ISLAND MARINA SS22: A Fusion of Maritime Aesthetics & Cutting-Edge Materials
28 April 2022For SS22, Stone Island applies navy-inspired functionality with man made, linear and high-performance fabrics with its Marina collection.
Stone Island has long been heavily associated with maritime; the label’s founder, Massimo Osti, held a deep appreciation for maritime sailing — a passion which he channeled when founding Stone Island in 1982. Where the label’s ties to the maritime world are most prevalent is with the Marina line: garments with navy-derived functionality, colours and details that are combined with Stone Island’s penchant for experimentalism.
For SS22, Stone Island leans in on its technical side with the Marina line, applying navy-inspired functionality with man made, linear and high-performance materials. Outerwear pieces are constructed using 3L GORE-TEX made using recycled polyester: both the outer face and inner mesh are made using recycled polyester, with a breathable, waterproof and windproof GORE-TEX membrane in the middle. A selection of pieces are covered in a ‘Reef Camo’ pattern, showcasing both the collection’s nautical inspirations and Stone Island’s love of textile experimentation.
The Stone Island Marina SS22 Installation will be in END.’s flagship London store, Soho, until the 5th of May.
