Burberry’s Pre-AW22 collection marks the first instalment in the fashion house’s “Friends and Family” series, with Ricardo Tisci bringing long-term collaborator and friend Lea T on board.
Since Ricardo Tisci was appointed as Chief Creative Officer of Burberry in 2018, the designer has represented an impetus for a new era within the fashion house: a desire to honour Burberry’s longstanding luxury heritage while tapping into cultures and creative spaces that were previously unfamiliar.
For Burberry’s Pre-AW22 collection, Ricardo Tisci continues to forge new creative paths for the fashion house, marking the first chapter in the new “Friends and Family” pre-collections: an annual series where Tisci will shine a light on creative voices from eclectic backgrounds. The capsule brings Tisci’s long-standing collaborator and close friend Lea T on board, with the model and activist acting as campaign stylist for the collection.
The collection itself is centred around outerwear, with Burberry’s rich heritage looked at through a contemporary and experimental prism. Trench coats are cut and sewn from various beige-toned panels to give a patchwork appearance, padded outerwear is colour blocked in a way reminiscent of retro hiking garb and bomber jackets are constructed using monogrammed leather in a cut-out effect.
