Nike delivers their annual contribution to LGBTQ Pride with their latest BETRUE footwear styles
Since 2012, Nike has provided nearly $2.7M in financial and in-kind support to LGBTQ causes, to advance inclusion and celebrate the passion and pursuit of sport by all athletes. Each year, as part of this global support initiative, Nike offers up their contribution to LGBTQ pride with a sneaker pack which celebrates the colours, symbols, and messages which have been reclaimed by the LGBTQ communities around the world.
For 2018, Nike has turned its attention to two such symbols: the pink triangle and the colour lavender.
Lavender - a collision of the traditionally gendered light blue and light pink - has long-since stood as a statement of gender fluidity. This season Nike has placed the colour front and centre in their BETRUE pack, alongside accents of the iconic rainbow spectrum.
Perhaps even more bold and progressive, Nike has thrown its substantial influence behind the reclamation of the pink triangle; a symbol used to identify members of the LGBTQ community during the Second World War.
The BETRUE iterations of the ZoomFly and Vapormax Plus silhouettes will launch at END. on June 21st as part of 2018's Pride celebrations.
