Dion Lee continues to explore sculpture and fluidity this season, with a heavy emphasis placed on technical cuts and experimental details.
Dion Lee, the creative director of his eponymous label, is a designer dedicated to the exploration of dichotomies: bold, yet refined, progressive and yet inspired by classic tailoring. This idea of dualities is something explored within the construction techniques the designer uses, with fluidity and structure placed at the forefront.
The designer’s AW21 collection perfectly captures that, creating garments that epitomise his technical, yet sensual, approach to garments and their constructions. The designer draws heavily from architecture and sculpture when it comes to design, evidenced by the cut-away approach taken to the collection’s garments — sleeves are removed and replaced with equestrian-inspired, harness-like straps, while dresses are cut into with razor-sharp precision.
