An ecelectic mix of streetwear, luxury and running silhouettes, Milan showcases a global vision of footwear
Continuing to dominate throughout SS20, collaborative sneakers were aplenty at Milan Fashion Week. A central instigator of the collaborative revolution, Nike were well represented with a variety of silhouettes and models.
The Nike x Sacai LDWaffle continued to prove a firm favourite amongst fashion week attendees, with both renditions of the layered up style making an appearance. Nike's recent Air Max 720/95 hybrid with Heron Preston was unmissable in safety orange, with glossy, transparent uppers adding a textural twist on the iconic athletic sneaker.
A variety of interpretations of luxury appeared on foot, too, with brands from Versace to Visvim represented. The Italian label's Chain Reaction sneaker offered up a refined take on chunky streetwear-inspired sneaker style, while Hiroki Nakamura's Visvim sought inspiration from further afield, channelling Americana and Native-American history with their FBT moccasin sneaker.
ASICS offered a twist on the Nike agenda with their Kiko Kostadinov and GmbH collaborations introducing a performance running twist to proceedings. Subtle colour palettes offset the vibrancy of other styles, securing a low-key but stylish sensibility.
