Transcending performance to become a streetwear phenomenon.
Debuted in 1998, the Air Max Plus has been consistently on sale around the world for nigh-on two decades. Having been remastered, recoloured, retooled, and reconstructed in countless iterations since its launch, the Air Max Plus has reached a defining point in its Nike legacy.
Now better known in many regions as the Nike 'Tn' in reference to the integrated Tuned Air tooling that set the silhouette apart from its siblings when it hit shelves in the late 90s, the Air Max Plus has been willingly hi-jacked by international streetwear stalwarts and has followed in the footsteps of a slew of on-court classics from Nike's Air Jordan brand.
This grass-roots rebaptism has become the unspoken goal of international sneaker suppliers looking to deliver era-defining silhouettes that transcend their sporting roots to become cultural artefacts and streetwear staples in their own right.
While the silhouette’s cult stature is foundation sneakerhead knowledge, the story of its origin and design is lesser known footwear lore. Designed and developed by industry veteran Sean McDowell, the shoe combines unlikely aesthetic influence from the beaches of Miami with a trio of pioneering manufacturing methods.
