For SS22, John Elliott takes an optimistic view on the contemporary wardrobe, creating garments designed to instil confidence and propel wearers forward.
Since founding his eponymous label in 2012, John Elliott has held a resolute approach to elevating the contemporary wardrobe. Materials are meticulously chosen, cuts are employed with razor-sharp precision and subtle details remain at the forefront of everything.
For John Elliott’s SS22 collection, those guiding principles remain as present as ever, with the designer utilising them in a way that offers a hopeful outlook on contemporary dressing. The collection is titled “Bright on the Inside” — a name born out of a period of reflection and isolation for the LA-based designer, whereby optimism and hope filled his creative vision.
The theme of hopefulness is something reflected in the garments for SS22 — pieces which Elliott describes as “designed to embrace and propel us all confidently in new ways”. That approach results in a modular system of dressing; foundational garments designed to offer elevated takes on wardrobe staples. Pieces are cut to generous shapes using heavily-detailed materials — like the crumpled shirting or the new burnout terry material or used — and coloured in neutral, earthy hues to give the refined look.
